OPSB Offers NOLA-PS Superintendency to Dr. Fateama S. Fulmore

(New Orleans – April 2, 2025)— The Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) voted today to offer the NOLA Public Schools (NOLA-PS) Superintendency to Dr. Fateama S. Fulmore, who currently serves as Interim Superintendent of NOLA-PS.

The Board and Dr. Fulmore will now enter contract negotiations. After a successful agreement, she will be formally appointed to the top position during a future board meeting.

"I'm excited for Dr. Fulmore to take on this role," said OPSB President Katie Baudouin. "I've appreciated her leadership through recent financial challenges, and I am certain of her dedication to ensuring that our graduation rates continue to rise, and the doors of success continue to open for our students through college, well-paying jobs, and beyond. Dr. Fulmore has led us to the success we're currently seeing as a district and I look forward to her continuing the moment as permanent Superintendent, because that's ultimately what was the deciding factor for me."

"I am deeply honored, humbled, and excited by this remarkable opportunity entrusted to me by the OPSB. This is my life's work, and I am committed to continuing collaborating with the school board, our dedicated school leaders, and our vibrant community to ensure students have everything they need to be successful," said Dr. Fulmore. "Today, my dreams have come true, and I want to ensure all our students are afforded the same opportunity to see their dreams come true too!"

Dr. Fulmore is a champion for children and has amassed a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise serving in urban school districts across the country. Throughout her career, she has educated and led in districts with direct-run schools and charter schools serving as a middle school and high school business education teacher, middle and high school assistant principal, high school principal, executive director of high schools, assistant superintendent fellow, principal supervisor of schools, and chief of accountability and school improvement.
